The Xiaomi Mi Mix ticks all the right boxes in the good looks department. On the very first glance it feels like the Mi Mix is a concept prototype, but it is a perfect production model. The maker has worked on a few innovations to get the full-size display right; the earpiece has been reworked and a front facing camera has been repositioned. Its ultra screen proportions on a display pushes pixels closer to the edge of the phone. The Mi Mix has a 6.4inch FullHD display with 363 PPI. The display has a lot more tech than meets the eye.
For the earpiece speaker, the Mi Mix is fitted with a ceramic drive unit. It converts electric signals into mechanical energy that creates microseismic waves, causing resonance in the phone metal frame, and converts into sound waves delivered straight to the ear. It has a built-in ultrasonic proximity sensor.
The phone gets a full ceramic body including the back, frame, and buttons. The Mi Mix 18K variant is a more expensive version of the Mi Mix that features 18K gold rims on the fingerprint sensor and main camera lens.
The stunning Xiaomi Mi Mix is gorgeous on the inside as well. The phablet comes loaded with Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 processor that employs a Quad-core (2 x 2.35 GHz Kryo & 2 x 1.6 GHz Kryo) chip. Graphics power is contributed by Adreno 530 GPU. The Mi Mix is available in two versions featuring different RAM and ROM combination. The standard variant gets 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB internal memory where as the exclusive Mi Mix 18K gets 6GB LPDDR4 of RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage.
The 16MP rear shooter is equipped with f/2.0 aperture, Two-tone flash and Phase Detection AutoFocus. It gets features like Low light enhancement, HDR adjustments, Panorama, Auto HDR, 4K video recording capabilities at 30 fps. To keep the bezel as small as they could, Xiaomi shifted the front camera from the top to the bottom of the screen. The 5MP front shooter is claimed to be 50% smaller than the traditional selfie camera. It is loaded with Beautify with 36 smart beauty profiles, 1080p video call with real-time Beautify, Selfie countdown, and Group shots.
The battery on the MI Mix is a 4400mAh unit that supports Quick Charging 3.1.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix comes preloaded with Android v.6.0 Marshmallow with MiUI 8 on top.
