The Moto Z is the premium smartphone offering from the Lenovo-owned brand. It was unveiled as the brand’s flagship model of the year on 9 June 2016. The Z features some top-end hardware and premium construction material. Apart from these, the main highlight of the Moto Z is that the phone is fully compatible with the Moto Mods accessories. Other two variants of the Moto Z go by the name Moto Z Play and Moto Z Force. Something that the Moto Z doesn’t get is the traditional 3.5mm audio jack.

The Moto Z looks and feels premium with all of that metal on it. Its slim chassis is crafted from Aircraft-grade aluminum and it measures only 5.19mm in thickness. The height, width and weight of the phone stand at 153.3 mm, 75.3 mm, and 136g respectively. On the front of the Moto Z. is a 5.5inch Super AMOLED display with a QuadHD resolution (2560 x 1440). The pixel density of the display is 535PPI and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. For overall protection, the Moto Z is equipped with Water repellent nano-coating.
The Moto Z misses out on a 3.5mm audio jack but the company bundles in a 3.5mm to USB-C headphone port adapter. The rear panel gets a textured finish and features the primary camera setup and the Moto Mods connector at the bottom.
The Moto Z is rolled out in Black with Lunar Grey trim, Black & Gold, and White.
The Moto Z gets the Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset that employs a Quad-core chip comprising of 2 x 2.15 GHz Kryo & 2 x 1.6 GHz Kryo configuration. This Motorola Mobile Computing System, as the company likes to call it, also includes Adreno 530 GPU, Natural Language Processor, and a Contextual Computing Processor. The Moto Z is fitted with 4GB of RAM and 32GB ROM which can be expanded up to 2TB via MicroSD card. The phone is equipped with a front-ported loud speaker and 4-Microphones.
Speaking of the camera config, at the front is a 5 MP shooter with ƒ/2.2 aperture, Wide-Angle lens, and a Flash. It gets Auto Night mode, Beautification software, and Professional mode. The main camera is a 13MP with f/ 1.8 Aperture, Optical Image Stabilization, Laser Autofocus, Dual LED flash, and a host of features.
Supporting the hardware is a 2600 mAh that is claimed to provide a full day of mixed usage. With TurboPower support the phone can be charged to provide 7 hours of power in just 15minutes.
Just like the Z Play, the Moto Z provides stock android experience with preinstalled Android v.6.0.1, Marshmallow.
