The Blackberry Priv was codenamed as Venice and is the first ever BB device to not have been loaded with company’s proprietary BlackBerry OS or platform.. The company had tried to integrate Android support in their BB OS but the ecosystem failed to impress. Finally this big gun was brought in the market with Android OS onboard. The phone has a unique retro feel to it due to its vertical slider keyboard. The phone comes with decent hardware, features, and a premium pricetag.

The BlackBerry Priv features a slider form factor and in the competitive market it is the only one of its kind. The company emphasis on the keyboard setup the Priv offers. Users can switch between a virtual keyboard and a physical keyboard for speed and accuracy with a simple slide. Along with the keyboard the smartphone also features touch sensitive keys for scrolling, flicking predictive text onto the screen, and fine cursor control.
On the front, is a 5.4inch dual-curved AMOLED display with a pixel density of 540 ppi. This 2k display has 16:9 aspect ratio. The back panel is coated in a ‘glass weave’ material. The phone is available in Black colour only.
Qualcomm’s MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 SoC does the duties for the BlackBerry Priv. This Hexa-core chipset uses 4 x 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 & 2 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A57 chip setup. The Adreno 418 GPU takes care of the graphics and visual performance. The Priv gets 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It supports memory expansion via hot swappable microSD memory card up to 2TB.
The Priv is equipped with Schneider-Kreuznach certified camera. The phone is fitted with a 18 megapixel camera that comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Phase Detect Auto Focus. It has a 6-element f2.2 lens and Back Side Illumination (BSI2) Stacked Sensor. As for video recording capabilities, the rear camera can do 4k video recording at 30 fps and 1080p HD video recording at 60 fps. While the main camera game is all premium and impressive, the front gets a small 2MP camera. It is also loaded with features that include – Image & video stabilisation, 720p HD video recording, 2X digital zoom, Wide Selfie Mode (also known as Selfie Panorama), Multi-Frame Low Light Enhancement, and 6DOF video stabilisation combined with OIS.
The BlackBerry Priv packs in a decent battery of 3410 mAh capacity and is compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.
The BlackBerry Priv comes preloaded with Android OS, v5.1.1 Lollipop, and a suit of BlackBerry and Google applications.
