The folks at Asus have really taken the design of the Max seriously. The plastic treatment is replaced with a more premium metallic unibody construction hence the back panel is not removable anymore. The smart looking device is available in four colours – Titanium Gray, Sand Gold, Glacier Silver and Rose Gold. The max has a 5.2-inch HD IPS display on the front with a contoured 2.5D glass on it. Speaking of dimensions, the phone measures 149.5mm in length, 73.7mm in width and 8.55mm thick. There are three touch capacitive buttons under the screen. The fingerprint sensor has been placed on the rear under the main camera.
The SoC for the Asus Zenfone 3 Max is the 64-bit Mediatek MT6737M Quad core processor clocked at 1.25 GHz. The SoC is combined with Mali-T720MP2 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The internal storage offered is of 32GB that can be expanded upto 32GB via microSD cards. The Zenfone 3 Max is also available with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage; this variant is priced tad lower than the other one.
The camera on the rear is a 13MP Pixel Camera with a 5P Largan Lens and at the front is a 5MP camera. Both the units get PixelMaster 3.0 camera modes. For audio capabilities, the phone is fitted with an ICEpower enhanced speaker and an Audio Wizard.
The USP of the phone is its 4,100 mAh battery that provides upto 30days of standby (3G) and 87 hours of music playback in a single charge. The Zenfone 3 Max can also double up as a power bank in order to charge other devices and smartphones. It can be done using a USB OTG cable. The battery also benefits from a Super Saving Mode that is claimed to have the capability to extend another 36 hours to ZenFone 3 Max’s standby time — even when it’s as low as 10%.
The Asus Zenfone 3 Max comes with Android v6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with ASUS ZenUI 3.0 fitted onto it.
The Asus Zenfone 3 Max looks way better than all of its previous generation. All the plastic parts have been replaced by metal giving it a more premium feel. It aims high in the battery department with its huge 4,100 mAh unit but it is not that impressive now.
——————————————–
Pros:
1. All metal construction
2. Big Battery that supports reverse charging
3. Improved camera
——————————————–
Cons:
1. The Battery is the USP but the previous gen Max came with a 5,000mAh unit. 4,000 mAh battery pack has become a standard offering across its segment
2. Price
3. Performance
