Redmi Note 4 was brought into the Indian market in January 2017 as an upgrade of their smash hit Redmi Note 3. Prior to the India launch, the Redmi Note 4 was launched in China in the month of August 2016. Due to legal constraints, Xiaomi had to rework on the original China-spec Note 4 and then was able to get it to India, therefore both these region-specific versions carry a different set of hardware inside.

Over the previous Redmi Note 3, the new Note 4 gets sharper styling and lost a bit of the curves in the upgrading process. The dimensions and weight are not too different from the previous version. The Note 4 measures 151mm in length, 76mm wide and 8.5mm thick while the weight is rated at 165gm. The overall look and feel of the device remain the same.
The Redmi Note 4 is available in three colours – Gold, Dark Grey, and Black. The new Black version is specific to the India market.
The display unit of the Note 3 has been carried onto the Note 4 however a couple of numbers on the ppi count have changed. On the front, we have a 5.5inch IPS LCD Full HD display, fitted onto a metal unibody. Inside we have the Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 doing the duties along with Adreno 506 GPU. The Note 3 was powered by a 1.8GHz Hexa-core CPU and Adreno 510 GPU. And speaking of the China-spec version, it is fitted with a Deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 SoC clocked at 2.1GHz. In order to make up for the less cores, Xiaomi offers the Note 4 with 3GB as well as 4GB of RAM as compared to the 2GB and 3GB versions retailed in some other regions.
All of the hardware is supported by a 4,100 mAh battery that supports fast charging. Other features of the Note 4 include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual SIM capabilities, and MiUI 8.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes preinstalled with Android v6.0 Marshmallow with MiUI 8 on top.
