As mentioned earlier, the Moto M gets a metallic treatment that makes it look and feel premium. The company said in an official statement that ‘M, as in Metal’. The unibody is crafted out of metal and gets a, so called, splashproof design. Alike most of the current Moto smartphones, the Moto M benefits from a water repellent nano-coating. On the front o the smartphone is a vibrant 5.5inch display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a pixel density of 401 ppi. The FullHD unit is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The phone is currently available in three base colours – Gold, Gray, and Silver.
The Moto M is available with different processor, RAM and storage options that varie from region to region. The SoC options include a 64-bit MediaTek Helio P15 processor as well as the 64-bit MediaTek Helio P10 unit clocked at 2.2Ghz and 1.8GHz respectively. While these Octa-core CPUs are different the GPUs mated to them is the same – Mali T860mp2 GPU. Also, the RAM options offered on the Moto M are of 3GB and 4GB. The 3GB RAM variant comes with 32GB onboard memory whereas the 4GB RAM is equipped with 64GB internal memory. All of the Moto M versions get a dedicated expandable memory slot that supports MicroSD cards upto 128GB capacity.
Coming to the camera, the company likes to call them the advanced cameras that are claimed to be improved for better performance. The selfie camera is a 8 MP unit with a 1.12um pixel size and uses a beautification software to produce good-looking selfies. The 16 MP primary camera comes with f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). It is assisted by a Color Correlated Temperature (CCT) flash with dual LEDs. The company offers Google Photos integration with free original file size backup for two years.
All of the aforementioned hardware is supported by a 3050 mAh battery that gets rapid charge capabilities. The phone also gets a USB-C port for charging, data transfer and OTG (On-The-Go) and a 3.5mm Headset Jack.
The company emphasises in providing a Pure android experience through their Moto devices and this one is no different. It gets Android v6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The Moto M does not feature any third-party UI.
