Google Pixel is the big G’s move of taking things on its own hands and come up with their own smartphone. This move was executed after rolling out a host of Nexus devices that were co-developed with brands like Samsung, LG, HTC, and Huawei. With HTC as a contract manufacturer, Google made their very first phone – The Google Pixel. Designed and developed by the Google, the Pixel boasts a camera that is rated the highest among all the smartphone. The phone also happens to be the first to be rolled out with Google Assistant built in.

Google Pixel Design

The Google Pixel features a unibody crafted out of Aerospace grade aluminum and polished glass. On the front is a 5.0 inch FullHD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 441 ppi. The screen is protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The front is simple and clean with a front facing camera, proximity sensor, and an earpiece on the top of the screen. There are no touch capacitive buttons instead the phone gets on-screen keys. At the rear is the primary camera with a Flash. The fingerprint sensor is dubbed as the Pixel Imprint.

The Google Pixel is rolled out in two colours – Quite Black, and Very Silver. The Pixel is also available in a shade of Blue that is a limited edition.

Google Pixel Hardware

The Google Pixel has all the premium stuff packed into it. Starting from the power station inside, the Pixel gets the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 64Bit SoC. This Quad-core chip is assisted by Adreno 530 GPU and 4 GB RAM. The Pixel is offered in two internal storage options – 32GB and 128GB. The ‘highest rated’ camera setup comprises of a 12.3 MP unit at the rear with large 1.55μm pixels and f/2.0 aperture. The camera uses a combination of Phase detection autofocus and laser detection autofocus.

At the front is an 8MP camera with f/2.4 aperture and uses fixed focus. The phone features a Single bottom-firing speaker. The sensor set includes Proximity, Gyrometer, Magnetometer, Pixel Imprint, Barometer, Hall effect sensor, Android Sensor Hub, Advanced x-axis haptics.

Google Pixel. The Pixel draws energy from a 2,770 mAh battery pack that supports fast charging. The phone gets a USB Type-C port, USB 3.0, and 3.5 mm headset jack.

Google Pixel Software

The Google Pixel features Android v.7.1 Nougat. The developers have said that the Pixel will receive two years of OS upgrades from launch and three years of security updates from launch.
