Seagate has launched the world’s largest capacity portable storage drive. Boasting a humongous 5TB of storage, the new Seagate Backup Plus Portable offers crazy large storage in a crazy small package. Just to put things in perspective, that space is more than enough to store in excess of 1000 high definition movies. You’d watch those many in over 5 years, if you’re obsessed with motion pictures and have nothing better to do, that is.

The drive comes with a small lightweight aluminium case which can easily fit inside a camera bag. To be exact, the drive measures a 4.5 x 3 x 0.8 inches, which is only slightly larger than your everyday phone. It weights around 250 gm which, again, is only slightly heavier than your everyday phone.

The new Seagate drive is priced at $190 or INR 12,500. Colour options include black, silver, red or blue. The device uses USB 3.0 delivering transfer rates of up to 120 MB/s.

The new Seagate 5TB drive derives all its power from the USB connection, doing away with the need of requiring an external power source.

The Seagate Backup Plus Portable will be available in late November. So get out and start shooting those 4K videos, you now a place to dump them all!
